Government Sets 2022 UMP to Increase by 1.09 Percent

Vocalexposes.com – The government set an increase in the provincial minimum wage (UMP) 2022 by an average of 1.09%. Ida Fauziyah said that the simulation of the average increase in the 2022 Ministerial UMP was based on PP No. 36 of 2021 concerning Wages. ”

After doing the simulation, the value is based on BPS data, the average minimum wage increase is 1.09 percent. This is the national average,” Ida said in an official statement, Tuesday (11/16/2021).

He explained that the UMP figure would be determined by the governor taking into account the conditions in each region. The governors were given time to set the 2022 UMP until November 21, 2021.

However, because that date is a holiday, the determination of the UMP must be made no later than November 20, 2021. Meanwhile, the deadline for determining the district/city minimum wage (UMK) falls on November 30, 2021.

“All regional heads can set the UMP/UMK,” said Ida. He explained that the determination of wages was carried out in accordance with statutory regulations so as not to reduce competitiveness.

If the minimum wage is too high, said Ida, it will reduce job opportunities. In addition, in the current situation which is still in the pandemic period, setting the minimum wage that is too high triggers the trigger for layoffs.

The determination of the UMP is based on PP No. 36 of 2021 concerning Wages, referring to the Job Creation Law. The determination is only made based on the region, namely the UMP and UMK. “There is no longer a minimum wage setting based on sector (UMS). However, the UMS that was in effect before November 2, 2020 is still valid,” said Ida.
